Peace Building & Good Governance

At Sustain Salone, we believe that peace-building and good governance are essential components for sustainable development in Sierra Leone. Decades of conflict and political instability have left many communities in the country struggling to overcome the lingering effects of violence and distrust. Our Peace-building & Governance program aims to empower these communities by promoting peaceful coexistence, fostering democratic values, and encouraging civic engagement, ultimately contributing to a more prosperous and resilient Sierra Leone. Our approach to peace-building and governance is based on three key pillars: dialogue, capacity building, and community engagement. We facilitate constructive dialogue among community members, local leaders, and representatives from various political, ethnic, and religious groups to promote understanding, tolerance, and respect. Through these conversations, we aim to build bridges between different factions, heal historical grievances, and create a shared vision for the future. Capacity building is another essential aspect of our program. We offer training and workshops to local leaders, civil society organizations, and community members on topics such as conflict resolution, mediation, leadership, and human rights. By enhancing their knowledge and skills, we empower these individuals to become agents of change and contribute to building a more inclusive and accountable governance system. Community engagement is crucial in our efforts to foster a culture of peace and democracy. We work with grassroots organizations, schools, and religious institutions to implement initiatives that encourage civic participation and promote the values of democracy and human rights. Through these activities, we aim to create a sense of ownership and responsibility among citizens, inspiring them to actively participate in the decision-making process and hold their leaders accountable. Our Peace-building & Governance program also collaborates with various stakeholders, including government institutions, international organizations, and the private sector, to advocate for policy changes and support the implementation of good governance practices. By working together, we can create a strong foundation for sustainable development in Sierra Leone.
