Sustain Salone’s Specific Focus Groups

At Sustain Salone, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to lead a prosperous and fulfilling life. To ensure that we tailor our programs and initiatives to the unique needs and challenges faced by the most marginalized and vulnerable segments of society, we concentrate our efforts on six specific focus groups:

  1. Farmers: Agriculture plays a crucial role in Sierra Leone’s economy and food security. We work with farmers to promote sustainable agricultural practices, enhance productivity, and improve the resilience of their livelihoods. By providing training, access to resources, and support, we empower farmers to contribute to their communities’ well-being and environmental sustainability.

  2. Women (widows, wives of the aged/disabled): Women, particularly widows and those caring for elderly or disabled family members, often face significant social, economic, and cultural barriers. Sustain Salone supports these women by offering educational opportunities, skills training, and income-generating activities, enabling them to achieve greater independence, financial security, and social inclusion.

  3. Unskilled and unemployed youths: A lack of skills and employment opportunities can lead to a cycle of poverty and disempowerment among young people. We work to provide vocational training, mentorship, and job placement help to help unskilled and unemployed youths develop marketable skills and find meaningful employment, fostering a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

  4. Orphans and street children who are neglected or abandoned: Children without proper care and support are extremely vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and a lifetime of poverty. Sustain Salone is dedicated to identifying and supporting orphans and street children, providing them with access to education, healthcare, and a safe and nurturing environment in which they can grow and thrive.

  5. The Elderly: Older individuals often face unique challenges related to health, mobility, and social isolation. Our programs aim to address the specific needs of the elderly, providing them with access to healthcare, social support, and opportunities to engage meaningfully with their communities, ensuring that they can age with dignity and respect.

  6. Persons living with disabilities, including the deaf, mute, and albinos: People with disabilities often encounter barriers to education, healthcare, and social integration. Sustain Salone is committed to promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities. We provide tailored support, such as skills training, accessible infrastructure, and specialized services, to empower them to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

By focusing on these specific groups, Sustain Salone aims to create targeted, effective, and sustainable interventions that address the root causes of poverty and marginalization, fostering lasting change and a brighter future for all.
